Great Designs and $50.00 Nappy Bags

My 'find for the day' was this great website: www.threadless.com, which has some brilliant (and varied) t-shirts to choose from, AND at really reasonable prices! This was one of my personal favourites:

As far as our own creative juices are concerned, Kathy has been busy making tonnes and tonnes of mini bags and buying brand new (soon to be seen) fabrics and I've been busy putting some ideas together for the mother day stall at school, including this design for a mothers' day card:

I've also been coming up with some screen ideas, which I will make you privvy to very soon.

In the meantime, the special offer for this week is:

$50.00 BLACK QUILTED NAPPY BAGS WITH RED LINING. Email us directly ontracy@fatmummas.com.au to take advantage of this great value offer!

Nappy Bag Price Slash!!!

We have decided to slash the price of our vinyl nappy bags by a massive $26.00, which means you can now snap one up for ONLY $150.00!!!

You may ask why we've decided to do it???? Well, we are no longer wholesaling this product, which means we can offer it to our customers directly for a price that is much more competitive with the low-quality, cheap, imported goods we all love to hate, but can't afford to live without! So, please help keep Australian manufacturing up and running and spread the word that Fat Mumma's nappy bags are now only $150.00!!!!

Tips for buying a nappy bag

At Fat Mumma's we find we sell more nappy bags to second or third time parents than to the new mum. I think this is because we have designed the bag we would have loved to have seen on the market when we were expecting. I know that there are a lot of things to consider with regards to personal needs, but here are a few tips I suggest you look out for when looking for a nappy bag:

1. Will you be using cloth nappies and if so, is there an area you can carry dirty nappies around?
2. Is there a pocket to place wipes that can be easy to access with one hand?
3. Is there somewhere to place creams and other possible messy items so they don't end up crushed in the bottom of the bag.
4. Is there a pocket or area for you to easily access your own water bottle (particularly necessary for the breast feeding mother).
5. Is it light-weight - they get very heavy once they are full of baby gear.
6. Does the design appeal to both genders (like our bags being able to reverse so a man doesn't have to walk around with a flowery design nappy bag on mums days off!).
7. Will it last for more than one child, or can it be used for other things once you've grown out of the nappy stage? (my daughter now uses my nappy bag as a sleepover bag!).
8. Does it fit your pram properly (with adjustable strap that fits any size pram)?
9. Do you need to use it as a backpack at any point?
10. Is it easy to clean?

I realise this list is not exhaustive, there are many more things you could consider, but these are the ones that I wish I had been privvy to think about when looking for a bag!

Five tips on selling at market

Selling at the esplanade market in St Kilda today. There are a few tips I can offer about doing any hard weather market such as this one:

1. Make sure you have a sturdy tent or heavy umbrella structure.
2. Remember to take lots of clamps to stop things blowing around in the wind.
3. Use plastic or waterproof tubs to store everything so nothing gets wet.
4. Remember your sunscreen!
5. Don't forget the coffee flask!

Markets are hard work but one of the least financial risk solutions to getting your product out there. Just be prepared to deal with the bargain shopper and try not to give in to cheap pricing pressure!

Fluttering around doing markets gives me an opportunity to do some of my own Christmas shopping and I've managed to pick up some beautiful stuff! There are also some amazing things I've put on my Christmas list, including one of these beautiful necklaces from Petal Meg! Have to save up a bit, but hey are gorgeous and she is appearing weekly at the Suzuki night markets.

I got some of these beautiful candles at the Sisters Markets on Saturday to hand out to teachers and all those that make my life easier to manage!

Kajita Candles

On Tuesday night we are appearing at the Wales Street Primary School, doing a Christmas fundraiser, so will see what else I can pick up!

I was happy to see Justine from Mixtape on Saturday at the Sisters Market. The new mixtape zine format looks cool!
